Travel on the Lansdale-Doylestown Line Be Affected Today
SEPTA train on Lansdale/Doylestown line hit and injured an individual Saturday night near North Wales station at around 6:30 p.m. Their condition remains unknown at this time. Police are conducting an investigation as to what led them onto the tracks, yet are uncertain of any cause of action taken by this individual.
Due to ongoing bridge work on the Amtrak Wilmington/Newark line in Chester, SEPTA Regional Rail schedules will undergo significant adjustments today due to merging inbound and outbound trains into one track between Eddystone and Marcus Hook stations – trains may depart up to seven minutes later at some stations using wooden walkouts for passenger access.
Shuttle buses will replace train service between Colmar and Doylestown stations on December 3-5, which will result in longer trips between Colmar and Doylestown stations and longer wait times when arriving in Doylestown. Furthermore, outbound train service to North Wales could be delayed up to five minutes at some stations while it will operate three minutes later at others from Elm Street through Miquon.
Lansdale/Doylestown Line offers a total of 61 commuter rail stops throughout Philadelphia area. Traveling northeast from its southern terminus at Norristown Transportation Center, the train travels over Old York Road (Route 611 at Elkins Park) before following Tookany Creek upstream until crossing its 200-foot contour line south of Jenkintown before passing over Triassic age shale, mudstone, and sandstone formations before crossing Wissahickon Creek between North Wales and Pennbrook Stations.
In the early 1960s, Reading Railroad Station at this site was replaced by an ornate Victorian structure; unfortunately this structure was destroyed in a fire in 1981. Since 1983, a more modest tan-and-red brick facility has occupied this space.
The main concourse features an information booth and ticket vending machines. There are also retail shops and a food court located within its main hall, along with 169 parking spaces and six inbound/outbound SEPTA trains that serve this station.
